Breeding Behavior?

Scold me later, not now please. Wondering if anyone has seen this behavior before. My male and CRB live(d) together the entire two years iv had them, but I just had to separate them because he kept wrapping around her, nudging around to 'find the head' and at one point he tried biting her side so at this point I separated them. Every time she switched hides, he followed. They just ate yesterday. He was also being a bit off with me, very wiggly and when I put him into the new tub he was coiling as if to strike while i out the probe in. He's never struck in the two years I've had him. He was also arching his side's/back and pushing everything away when I touched him in the new tub. Does this just sound like breeding behavior? Needless to say they'll be housed separately from now on.
