Texas Herping

I try to take my son out every evening to go on what he calls "snake adventures". Here are some of the recent findings in the attached pictures. Hope you all enjoy!

- Diamond Back Water Snake: Typical aggressive specimen. I don't like holding snakes behind the head, but I wanted full control so my son could see him up close. Released back into the creek.

- Ribbon Snake: Kinda boring, but its always fun to find a snake! Released back into the grass field.

- Speckled King: Relocated out of a neighbor's garden. Our neighborhood has been posting pics of snakes on FBook, and another gentlemen and myself will go "rescue" the snake. Its been great and have saved lots of snakes, while raising awareness. I know the cage is too small. Its only temporary for a few days until I let her go out in the country at my parent's land. Side note: meanest king Ive ever found, comically aggressive. It was also eating a baby bird when I came and relocated her (you can see her still eating in the pic).

- Texas Rat: Found on the road. Quite timid compared to most I find. Also relocating to my parents farm.

- Eastern Hognose: Poor thing had been hit by a car. I tried to treat/rescue, but the jaw and head got hit too bad.
