Help!!!

This morning got off to a rough start. I awoke to something crashing in my kitchen/living room area and I almost shrugged it off and went back to sleep because my roommates cats rough house and occasionally knock stuff over but I went with my gut and got up to take a look. Good thing I did because one of the obese hellions had been sitting a top my new 10gallon slide and lock tank that I purchased at an expo and the mesh wire gave under her weight and she went crashing through on to my precious Mexican black king. However there was a towel separating the two because I had thrown it over the tank to give the snake some peaceful hours to adjust to her surroundings for the time being (wasn't going to keep a 3 1/2 ft snake in a 10 gal). The cat learned how to fly today and Voodoo wasn't harmed. Anyways with a little back story, does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to keep the stupid cats off the top of my snake tanks?! I can't always be around to spray them with ice cold water as much joy as I find in it. Putting the snakes in a room where I can close the door is not an option and I would love to rid of the pesky poop heads but that's not an option either as they do not belong to me. I would love to hear any ideas. Anything ! Sorry for the novel.
