Hi

Hi Everyone,

new to the world of reptiles, Snakes in particular.
Am a Ranch Girl that raises some common and some more exotic livestock and, as of 4 months ago, am also the proud owner of a male Green Tree Python(Sorong locality I believe).

Never had Snakes before, and never handled anything bigger(or feistier) then a native Garter Snake. Always loved Reptiles tho.
Started work at a local Pet shop and they had this green snake named "Peetee" with a NASTY attitude that was rather infamous, he had been shuffled from store to store the last 3 yrs because of it.
Well, my motto is : "You are being Cranky? Well that means you definitely need to be handled".
So, went and did my research on "Peetee" - the Green Tree Python. Read up on green trees as much as I could find and treated him accordingly.

Long story short, all he needed was a brave person who routinely took him out, and reads his -to me, VERY clear- tells when he is uncomfortable and works from there.
Well, now he rides around with me most of my work days, "helps" me stock shelves(apparently canned dog/cat food smells interesting and has to be investigated closely EVERYTIME, always have to watch that I don't bonk him in the head with a Can or that he isn't wrapped around a stack and clears the shelve when I walk away), and kids(and brave adults) alike get to pet him.

He still lives at the store, mainly because I am still remodeling my kitchen to accommodate his new home. Hopefully in a few short weeks I can bring him home.

Anyway, now of course I am looking more closely into the amazing world of Snakes and found myself researching Jungle Carpet Pythons and Suriname Boas for future acquisitions.........

Apparently there isn't only "chicken math"(as in you never stop at just one), there seems to be "Snake Math" as well. I am in trouble.

Cheers,
Anna
