Hognose cost?
Hello,
So I was originally going to be keeping a pair of garters but after some discussion with my friend (she had bought some to breed herself and had offered me a pair) she has taken them as well to get them feeding and see how they are as breeders since she has much more experience with snakes than me. But I do still want a snake, but I was thinking something a bit easier to care for while I wait for next garter breeding season to see the results. Now don't get me wrong, I've wanted a hognose prior to the garters but I want the hognose as just a snake pet where as the garters were going to be pet/breeders, I love all my animals and want to provide the best care for them, but for right now it just seemed garters were a bit beyond what I can properly provide the best care for. So my friend suggested hognose which are similar in some ways but are much more docile and will take readily to mice instead of the varied diet of garters which seems much more appealing to me. I've been doing a lot of research on these guys for feeling/enclosures/and other care requirements but one thing that varies ALOT is price. My local pet shop sells a normal western hog for $125, is that a decent price? I know they over price some of their other snakes, but this seems to match with other prices I've seen and this would eliminate shipping cost/risk during shipping. So does this seem reasonable? They sell their albinos $300 <not looking to get an albino since I like the rattler like look of the normal, but just wondering about that price as well> is that abnormal? Thanks!
