Hey Everyone,
Some of you may have seen my other thread about the cage(s) I am building.
http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/gener...8-x24-x18.html I have never used a RHP before and when building these, I decided to go with one since I was building a wooden cage.
Anyway, heres my dilema; I mounted the RHP and plugged it in for the first time. Now, from my understanding they SHOULDN'T get hot enough to burn my snakes. However, the panel seems like its a bit hotter than I expected it to be. It doesn't burn my hand at first touch, but if I leave my hand on it; it starts to get very uncomfortable fast. I grabbed out my temperature gun and measured the surface temperature of the heat panel and it was at 180F! That seems a little hot to me! Although as a comparison I measured one of our floodlights in the ceiling and it was about 247F. So maybe I'm just being a bit overly cautious.
Does this temperature seem normal to you? I got the panel online from Reptile Basics Inc.
