I keep my baby gray rat snake in a moderately large sterilite tub(I think it's like 58 quarts) with a good bit of furniture. One of which is a toilet paper roll suspended on a wire that runs across the enclosure. I got the idea from
this thread, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Incidentally, I've noticed some interesting behavior from him. After every meal, he will climb up into the suspended toilet paper roll and spend the night there. The next day, he will go back to hiding under one of the other hides on the bottom of the tub. It's pretty peculiar, but also pretty cool.
