I spoke with an expert at Reptilia about that. He told me the only native snakes not 'regulated' (for lack of a better word) are Eastern Garters, and ONLY Eastern Garters. He said they have to fight the government tooth and nail to keep any of the other native species at the zoo. Anyway, after some research I have decided to probably not get a garter at the moment.
I suggest you be extremely careful who you tell about keeping native snakes.
Anyway, still liking the MBK, but still researching. Wanna make sure I even like Kingsnake personalities first.
