Sounds like you did to me. 
It's my experience that pet store feeders are always smaller than what I can get in bulk for the size I need. I have a few live feeders and those feeders are smaller than the ones I get in bulk. For example: the pet store's medium is an equivalent to the smalls I get in bulk.
