Nature takes care of itself. You don't need to hold yourself to a higher standard than her. If people would even make it to that standard without surpasing it things would be just fine.

I think you're reading a little too much into your personal personification of nature. I would not like to see someone keeping animals that just shrugged and said 'Nature takes care of itself" when an animal was ailing or wounded. Things malinger and die and starve all the time in nature. That doesn't mean we should allow it to happen when we have chosen to keep an animal in our care. Being at one with nature can't be used to excuse abuse or neglect.
