FIRST snake, possibly a carpet?

Hi all! I am the producer of a web show on youtube and started working with someone who loves snakes. After all the interaction with them, I have to admit, I went from thinking they were cool to falling in love with them. After holding and getting to know many different kinds, I have grown fond of the Carpet Python. Seeing how I am only going to get one, are there any other suggestions that I might enjoy? The ball pythons are cool but I don't know, I just can't see myself wanting one hahahah. The carpets have such pretty patterns but if there are any suggestions I could get before I make my decision!!
