Snakes in backyard. help identify

two snakes were found in my backyard relatively in the same area in my about 2 acre property. i took a long pole that grabbed items and put it in a barrel and relocated them. A third one was in my backyard today and they are all the same snake. they are about 2.5 ft long and a diameter of about .75 in. I am scared and dont know if they are poisonous/dangerous. how do i find out if there is a LOT more of them? HELP PLEASE
