Can any one identify this snake?

My friend and I were walking around in some woods just exploring. We have found garter snakes there before but today we found a snake we believe to be venomous. I have no idea i texted a picture to my dad and he said it looks like a baby rattle snake because the head has things on the sides where it keeps venom. any way we caught it in a water bottle and my friend put it in some kind of tank where it cant get out. can any one identify it for me and tell me what to with it. the picture is kind of distorted cause it was in the water bottle. we poked air hole so it wouldn't die. if needed ill go over to his house and get a better picture,
