Snake climbing sides of tank

Lola (my rosy boa) currently in a 10 gal. typical aquarium, which is fine as she is still only about a foot long. I plan on getting a larger tank for her before long, but this should be good for now and it's the tank that was given to me when I adopted her. She has been stretching up the sides of her tank and the past 2 days I have gone to the tank to find that she has somehow made it all the way up and is perched on the top ledge of the tank between the tank and the lid. I had heavy books stacked on top of the lid but didn't think she was anywhere big enough to climb that high so I didnt bother to buy clips for the lid until today once I saw this happening. Is there a reason she is doing this, or is it a typical snake behavior to be curious and try to escape? Her husbandry has been good, and she has started eating regularly- it's room temperatures, which is usually low to mid 70s, on the cool side and the "hot" is kept in the high 80s with a basking spot around 90. She has 2 hides, one on each side, and a water dish on the cool side.
Thanks,
Amy
