Lost Ball Python

I hope someone can help me i lost my ball python sometime during the end of summer. and well i still have yet to find him. his tank was right next to the basement so i just figured with the heat and cracks he made his way outside. well to my surprise a few days ago i went in the basement and my cat notice droppings on the top of steps which made me alil worried for the fact i have two small children so i went down further this time i brought my ferret thinking if he popped out the ferret would kill him and he was smelling around and i found two more piles alil bit bigger then the first one i am sure there are prob mice down there which he's eating so i am more scared of the size he might be at now. when i did lose him he was already over a yr old but was very small i would say 2 ft no more and very tiny and of course he never moved a whole lot.
first question how can i trap him and second question how big could he have gotten in lets say 5 months also could he attack me or the kids if he did come upstairs
