humidity controller?

The new Boa Apartment is working out really well except for one thing - trying to keep the humidity stable! I would like to maintain 80 to 85% RH (for my Rainbow) but I either get flooded or it starts to creep down.

I tried a home humidifier (the warm mist kind) but the humidistat on it isn't very stable at high humidity - it is either always on or doesn't turn on until the humidity has dropped way down. I tried controlling it with a regular wall-mounted humidistat in the cage - same thing. I tried a Habba-Mist but it has no sensor so as the temperature and humidity in my house changes (which it does a LOT this time of year) the humidity in the cage changes.

I looked at industrial and agricultural humidity controllers and they are mostly in the over-$200 range. Is there any thing else that isn't as expensive?

I have an exo-terra waterfall in the corner of the cage and have the humidifier shut off right now so I will see if the moving water will keep the humidity up without a humidifier. I really need something that will maintain the humidity without daily adjustment!

What do you all use to maintain humidity?
