Another beardie eating disorder...
Ok, so Chomp is our first beardie. Chomp gets mixed green salad every day first thing in the morning, a bath every week, *occasional* fruit (mango, kiwi, banana), herp-cal on just about everything, has a 105 basking spot on a big rock with a 78-85 cool side (depending on the time of day and temp of the room itself).
When Chomp does decide she wants to eat, she goes to town on the crickets we give her. However, she's not very active, preferring the warm side of her cage, and waits for crickets to come to her. She eats, but doesn't eat with "GUSTO" like most beardies do.
She doesn't seem to eat much of her greens, although she will eat one out of my hand if I offer it to her and coax her a bit. She's about 10" including tail, not sure of her age.
She's pooping fine, very regular bowel movements... normal colour, consistancy... but she doesnt' seem to eat as much as she should. We picked up 1000 1/4" crickets on Thursday, and we've only used about 200. Seems she should be eating double that...
Any ideas? She seems fine (although she's not very active unless she's disturbed) and I'm not panicking at all, but I want to nip this in the bud if I can.
Oh, and also... I'm worried about her sleeping habits. She sleeps like a dead animal. The first time she slept, I thought she WAS a dead animal. I opened her tank and poked her and prodded her and picked her up before she finally woke up. Last night she got in her water dish (she's never done that before) and closed her eyes and went under. She was under for a few minutes before I panicked and pulled her out! Her dish is only like an inch deep, but her whole head was under the water!
Now I've read everything I can get my hands on about Beardies... and both of these things seem strange to me. I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on the situation...
