veiled mating habits....

ok, i put my female veiled in with my male to see if they would like each other and possibly mate. and the male started to show off, by putting on some greens and yellows and puffing out his neck. and the female sort of just stayed where she was with her normal soft green colour. and then the male looked at her and shot his tongue out at her neck and then bit down on her neck, but only one bite, not a whole bunch of violent ones.......so i was wondering....is this normal mating behaviour? was he just gettin a hold of her? or was he attacking her?
