Comments PLEASE :) Plan for a snake tank...

I'm converting a fish tank for a snake. I already have all the equipment outlined in my plan except the plastic cover and the second heating lamp.

Basically, the plan is this: 35G tank, 16W Exo Terra 10x11" heat pad on one end, with a 100W ceramic heat element over that end as well. 2 hides, one on the warm side, one in the middle. Drinking bowl on the far cold side. Cypress Mulch bedding (already have 18Kilos of it)

Im aiming for a gradient of about 27-38 in the day time, and hopefully I can get that to go down to 25-35 somehow during the day.

My plan to retain humidity was to cover most of the screen mesh top with some plastic (I was gonna buy a crazy karpet, cut it to size, and voila- but sane ideas are appreciated).

If this didnt work for my heating needs, I was going to place an additional, smaller ceramic heating element either on the other end, or next to the current one. This way I could turn the large one off at night (or the small one), whatever I needed to achieve my gradient.

The enclosure will be misted with a hand sprayer several times daily, and the aquarium will include temperature and humidity meters. If the proper humidity proves frustrating this way, an automatic mister will replace the hand mister.

I've had great success with similar methods in the past (Read, stoneage, early 90's)... its been awhile.

Im thinking of a Ball Python to put in here... Might get a Milk Snake instead (and accordingly adjust parameters...)

What do you guys think?
