Heating a Custom Enclosure I Built?

ok so let me give out the details...first off, this is a test enclosure i've designed (no reptiles live in it) and it was made for my ETB (if it works) basically after looking and looking for a stackable aboreal enclosure that i didnt have to cut to acomodate a flourecent (sp) light fixture and that had the specific dimensions i was after, i gave up and decided to try and build one...so i went ahead and did this, i borrowed a few designs from some cages, and improved upon them, so heres what i got

basically i dont want to use a bulb to heat this enclosure, so im wondering if heat tape, or more specifically one of those Exo-terra heat pads hooked up to a rheostat, placed on the back of the enclosure so it heats close to where the perch will be placed, will this work? any other ideas, thoughts or suggestions are welcome
