First snake, Mexican Black King!

Hey all,
My first post here, looks like a very nice forum!
I'm a tarantula enthusiast, but due to a stroke of good luck I now am the proud owner of a 16" Lampropeltis getulus nigrita (Mexican Black Kingsnake), don't know if I spelled the scientific name right, I've seen it written in many ways. This little snake crawled up from under a desk of a friend of a friend, and he certainly has no snakes. He gave the snake to my friend, and he passed it on to me. He has shed twice now in the three weeks I've had him. When I got him he had some damage on his nose, which was completely gone after the shed. When he is in his enclosure he's quite agressive, rattling its tail and striking at everything that moves, but when I take him out he just hangs around calmly on my hand. Some photo's to go with the story:

This is the snake as I got it, pre-shed, and a little damaged at the nose:

After the shed, he was jet black, and the damage gone:

First pinkie in my care, I already got the advise to feed larger prey items, which I'm doing now:

And finally a nice head shot after its second shed:

Greetz,
Joost!
