I myself have a small Rock and since I've had him he never ever strikes @ me. He'll hiss lightly for a 1/2 a second and then he's fine. When I bought him he was in a clutch and some of his brothers and sisters had a very nasty temperament!
It would be really cool to have a tame rock python, but when u buy one dont expect to be able to tame it out, they are just pissy snakes by nature. I personaly dont ever seeing myslef get one or ever wanting to get one. rock pythons in a way are like hot snakes, great too look at, great to study, extemely interesting and facinating anamimals, but a bi*ch to handle, cage matinace and pretty much everything else that involves contact.
