As many of you have noticed, this hobby has been progressively moving away from common names (IE: Timer Rattlesnake) to the Latin name (IE: Crotalus Horridus). I am interested in adding a Latin help page to my
www.SCReptiles.com website. I want to place a Latin dictionary explaining the terms, for example “Agkistrodon” “piscivorus” means “hooked tooth” “fish eater.” I also would like to add the Latin names in wave form, allowing users to click on the Latin term and hear the correct pronunciation. Problem is, I am not versed in Latin. I need two things. First, a type of Latin dictionary that will allow me to research the terms and file them in a user friendly internet version. And second, I need some volunteers who are well versed in the Latin names to record them in wave file and email them to me. Anyone interested in helping out can post here or email me at
