What are they?
Hey guys,
These tadpoles came in a shipment of feeder goldfish. I'm assuming the feeders came from florida originally, though I don't know if our suppliers keep their goldfish/koi outside in Calgary. I'd assume not.
Anyway, I took them home and they're growing in a tank that's bursting with Java fern. I'd like some idea of what they are. I'm sure these being imported by accident is pretty common.
I thought bullfrogs at first, but I'm certain these tadpoles are too small for that. They are about 3-4" in length, with the business end (head) being about 1.5".
I know identification from tadpoles can be difficult, but I'd appreciated any help identifying these that you guys can offer. Here are some pictures:
