care tips please? :)

Not wanting a birdeater (LOL) I looked up 'grammostola rosea' and as a result got a little confused. One care sheet says they need 70-80% humidity, the other that they're from dry scrubland and really only need misting just before a molt. Which one's right?? Also, most of the sheets I've read recommend a peat moss/perlite substrate... isn't perlite bad as a substrate or is it just bad for lizards? I've got a lot of questions, but as the saying goes, if something's worth doing it's worth doing right
