As a lover of all creatures great and small, I along with my family, have decided to get a snake as a pet. We’ve had and have many other animals but this is the first time as a snake owner. I came here to gather intel of the keeping of a great beginner snake. We’ve been researching and would LOVE to have a corn sake. Unfortunately, we live in GA. Milk snake would be a great 2nd choice. However, it is also listed on the DNR website as a native species that is not allowed as a pet. Im confused as to laws and consequences of owning a snake not allowed by the state. There are many listed that I researched as being great beginner snakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated although I plan on doing my due diligence and looking through these boards as Im sure Im not the only one that’s asked the question. Thanks in advance for any help.
