Water dragon enclosure advice

My water dragon has almost outgrown his aquarium enclosure. I need to build another one. It is currently in a aquarium that is 6' x18"x18". I used a piece of ceramic tile to divide the floor area, so i have a land end and a water end. When he gets in the water he doesnt really have much room to swim.
So i want to build a new enclosure. It will be 8' long, 6' high, and 4' from front to back. I need water for him to swim in. So i am going to make the water basin 12-18" deep. I am thinking of using epoxy to seal the entire inside of the plywood enclosure. I am going to apply at least 5 coats maybe more. I am pretty handy with wood and i know that it will support the water weight as long as i keep the water from seeping through and getting the wood wet. Any ideas or better options?
