Copperhead or Northern Water Snake?

Hi All,

This snake was on my property today in the Catskills in Upstate NY. I figured it was a copperhead, but then I look around on the web and thought it might be a Northern Water snake. Unfortunately, I don't have any info about the shape of the head. It was about 2.5 feet long and fairly thin. If any of you have any insight, it would be greatly appreciated!
