Unhappy Is this behavior normal?

Hello! I'm a new snake owner. I've recently got a ball python on 9/18/19, and I feel as though he's really stressed out. I am a little worried that it's more than the normal amount a ball python experiences when they're getting used to a new environment. He only comes out of his hides to push the top of the enclosure to get out or dig in the substrate to escape as well. All my temps are normal (77°-80°F on the cool side, and the 90°F from the heating pad on the other), and the humidity is a steady 52%-55% throughout the day. He has two hides on each side of the enclosure and a bowl for water. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this just a matter of patience? Also, I don't know if this means anything, but his pupils are constantly dilated. It seemed a bit weird because I thought their pupils are slits most of the time. Maybe I'm just paranoid?
