Thermostat Sensor Position

Just thought I'd ask which end of the viv most people prefer for placing their stat sensor. In the past I positioned mine at the warm end, under the perch near the basking spot. The stat was set to the max temperature for the warm side (e.g. 90F/32C). Recently I've seen a number of people recommend placing the sensor at the cool end, set to the lowest temp (e.g. 75F/24F).

I don't really like this method as my ambient air temps are quite warm/hot for a good part of the year, i,e. they would not be low enough to set off the stat. This would mean my heat bulb wouldn't switch on except for in the late autumn/winter months.

Which method do you prefer?
