Safe soil mixes?

I was wondering what type of soil would be safe to use with some tropical plants in my tree frog setup. They will be in clay pots that are mainly buried in the rest of the substrate and the top of the soil covered with cypress mulch/moss.

There was a bag of soil where we got the plants that was all natural, but it has perlite mixed in with it. Would this be okay as it does not have anything else (like vermiculate)?

Thanks for any help

Matt

(I posted this in the natural plant forum but no one seemed to be replying and the quicker I hear from someone the better)
