Re: tort table!

Im not seeing a UVB light, do you have one there?

Fruit is not good for them really, so that should only be an occasional thing. It can change their digestive system and interrupt their ability to digest their main food source - grasses. They should be eating at least 70% of their diet in grasses, if not more. In the summertime, you can literally let them eat your yard grasses and nothing more (provided you have a pesticide/herbicide free yard). They actually make specific seed varieties just for tortoises, if you look online. You can plant grasses indoors to grow for them the rest of the year. Aside from that, the odd treat to get them excited, like cactus fruit or collard greens. Keep in mind that they are designed for low protein foods. Greens and veggies are hard on their kidneys and liver as they have to then filter out the excess proteins. Over the years that can lead to problems and organ failure eventually.

If you want to add some plants, even ones that it can eat, put in some succulents. If you can find a great big aloe vera plant and put that in there he will munch on it and it looks cool. Alfalfa also works and is edible for them.
