Designing a new rack, need some input
Well, I need to build a new rack for my corns (to accommodate the kids that are growing up), and I've got a few ideas and a few questions.....
I found out today that Rubbermaid has discontinued the model of tub (#2221) I was using for my adult racks. So, since I'll be redesigning around a new tub of some sort anyway, I'd like to get a few other opinions on what a good size tub for adult corns is.
Also, I'm toying with the idea of making my new rack a suspended type - with the tubs being on rails and suspended about 1/2 an inch from the shelf they sit above. And, since that clearance would be there anyway, I was thinking of putting some wire screening on the shelves to provide ventilation (rather than drilling holes in every tub). Does anyone think there'd be a problem with the corns rubbing their noses raw on the wire portion (it would likely be 1/4" hardware cloth)?
Thanks,
Dawn
btw: I don't currently use heat tape on my racks, so that is not a consideration.
