Black Short-tail head scalation question

There's a thing I don't understand. Black short tail should have a smale row of scale under the eyes, before the lip scale right? Just like borneo? When I saw Killer Cichlidz pics of his black short tail I notice there's some small scales before the eyes but not under. The eyes are touching the big lip scales like a red blood. Anybody can explain me?
