Weird mommy rat behavior??

One of my rats recently had her babies, and anyway today while I was feeding and watering the cage, she grabbed one of her babies and walked over to me and dropped it in my hand. I told her it was a beautiful but that she could keep it, and a few seconds later she took it back and dropped it into the pile. Then she did it again, and again! Why is she doing that? Is she trying to pawn them off on me or something? It's her first litter if that means anything. Zoe
