Thumbs down Heating problem.

I have a heater mat in 1/3 of my snakes Viv'. The censor at the other end. Only problem is, even with the thermostat set to over 34.c I can't get the heat up to the least amout of 27.c. I can't see any imeddiate problems (Ekans is still eating, is very friendly) But could the low heat cause any problems in the future?

Please help with some tips to raise the heat in the Viv'. (I can't afford to buy him a female just yet...Lol)
