Hate

I am probably going to be flamed for asking such a stupid question, and this is a real question, not a hypothetical one.
Why do people hate snakes? Especially Pythons?
I have never ever ever hated snakes, even before I had my babies. so i don't know, but are people afraid they will bite? or is it that they were just taught snakes are bad? I am really curious. if anybody can help answer this, i will really appreciate it
