Need quick help! Easy way to make a lid for a terrarium???

Hey guys and gals...

We just found a 50 gal terrarium at an excellent price...but it has no top! I was figuring that a 3-section top (screen/glass/screen) would be perfect; either that, or a half/half. The tank measures 48" long, 17" deep, 14" tall.

Would there be a relatively simple way to build my own top from a local hardware store's items? If so, please fill me in!

Also, how about ideas for maybe a temporary top for a day or two, if the other one might take a few nights to build? Thanks very much!

Use 1/4" plywood, cut it into 1 1/2" strips and use 1/2" wire mesh to cover it.

We've done the tops with 1/2" melamine, screen and a handle. we cut the center out of the melamine so the frame would be all one piece.
