Biopod

Hey everyone, I'm giving great thought into buying a biopod and setting it up for a couple darts. I'm away for work quite a bit so this is very ideal for someone like me who can't normally keep animals that require a closer eye kept on them. Everything is controlled off my phone other than feeding which i can have a friend, relative or my roomate do while im gone.

Anyone have any experience with these units?

Re: biopod

The jist I get from the video is it isn't in production yet. It's merely protypes without any market sales yet. I typically question these all in one glass boxes that market as complete eco systems without any input. I'm not sure what these do that a setup terrarium couldn't do. Mistking offers hyrgometer controls for their mist systems so you can set it to maintain whatever humidity you want and it will cycle on and off to do that. Proper lighting on a simple timer, mist system and proper plant selection could still create a lush rainforest with the fraction the cost of these I'm sure.

Right but you can pre order them. Its intriguing to me because everything can be controlled and watched through my phone from wherever i am plus it looks clean and i don't have to plumb it and **** with it too much as you would with a home set up

Yeah with aquariums or terrariums the pretty ones are $$$. I would inquire about refund policy because at this point your basically "donating" money and hope you get it. It's no guarantee it will ever become reality. They have options to donate various amounts of money. It's an interesting concept for sure and the way technology is going this will be more common in the future. They have kitchen appliances that can talk to each other so it's coming. Personally I'd rather let it actually be produced and see how it really works. Good luck though and keep us posted.

I'd wait for it or something like it to hit the market before spending money. For the money those tanks cost you could offer a friend or relative $5 to do whatever you wanted to adjust something after it was setup and it would take a few years to break even on the cost on those.
