2014 Red Phase T. S. Coninnus

My male and female red spotted garters decided they wanted to share a hide. They are growing so nicely these days.

Beautiful garters AL. Are you planning to breed them?

Thanks EL! The female is already gravid. Took them out of brumation Jan.1 and they took like two weeks before I saw any locks. But yeah, I am hoping for a litter in April or May from her.

They look awesome. But why do you keep them in a tin foil environment?

Hi Patrick! What's going on with the enclosure is, they were in a glass enclosure at the time and I had the three sides covered with aluminum foil on the outside of the glass to help with the heat issue at the time. They are adults now and in a rack enclosure. The foil also helped with the security issues. Thanks for the compliment on them.

Re: 2014 Red Phase T. S. Coninnus

This female Oregon red spotted was bred back in Jan. but hasn't produced any hatchlings so far this year. Just a bit overdue at this point but i am still keeping my hopes up that she will drop a litter.

Patrick, if you are really interested in Thamnophis sirtalis your best chance would be the Hamm expo in September. Last year I found two breeders who had young Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia for sale. I don’t know about Thamnophis sirtalis concinnus (btw Albert – great looking snakes) but there was a breeder from the Netherlands who had a really wide collection of different subspecies, so it is not unlikely to find them there.
