AP cage arrived

My A20 is finally here!

Giving it a couple days to cure before sticking the top back on. Probably a couple more after that before I put Roy my albino beauty in. I was going to order a second if I liked it but I'm thinking my platinum won't need one for quite awhile still.

I like the quality of this more than the other cages I have right now so probably ordering some more ap cages next month! Though I can't decide on which animals to buy for first. I'll probably order 5 or 6 cages at once I was thinking maybe for the 2 bearded dragons, woma, black milk, and maybe the bull since I know she'll grow fast.

I like their cages, too. Good quality for a good price.

Re: AP cage arrived

Very nice Riddick. I love my AP cages. They were easy to assemble and they're very well made. The customer service was great too. I'm probably going to need a new enclosure for one of my carpets this year and two more next year when my yearlings gets bigger. I was thinking of a 4x2x2 but I like the dimensions on the A20 much better. How are you heating yours?

Re: AP cage arrived

I like the look of that A20 for my carpets as well. Would be more than enough room for my little IJs!

Re: AP cage arrived

I just put everything on it except no substrate or decorations yet. I had a 40 watt RHP laying around that I ordered for a smaller cage since it wasn't getting up to the right temp. Turns out I fixed the issue on the smaller cage before the thing arrived...of course right. So I put the smaller one in it I'm not sure if it will be able to do the job or not so I haven't added anything inside since I'm not sure if I'll need to order a new RHP. And since I just spent a grand or so on my two cars I won't be able to order a heat panel for awhile if this one doesn't work....I kind of wanted to cry when I got the estimate for my old car to get it back on the road

Anyway the plan is to just use a RHP on it though I did get the mat just haven't put it on.

Re: AP cage arrived

I also ordered from them. I should be receiving it soon.
What do you mean by cure? I am guessing some form of glue, though I have also heard about letting the heat panel cook a few days as well.

Re: AP cage arrived

Sounds like you got a lot of good things done Riddick. You can take your time decorating the new cage. Your snake has everything it needs. I'm saving for new enclosures and a herpstat 4 too. It ain't a cheap hobby right?

Re: AP cage arrived

I'd just put in something to provide an elevated basking area under the smaller rhp, and place the mat on the bottom of that same side under the water bowl. That way the snake can get close enough to the overhead heat source, have a warm soak, or move to the cooler side whenever he/she wants to cool down a bit. That's how I have my larger carpet tank set up now. The smaller one doesn't have a heater under the water bowl, but does have a ceramic cichlid stone cave on a tray of sphagnum moss under the che to provide a humid hide for digesting or resting in prior to shedding. The smaller one spends a fair bit of time soaking in the water bowl even though it's cooler, the larger one spends more time under the (40w) rhp during the day, they both become more active at night.
I'm thinking about ordering some AP enclosures, how long did it take for yours to arrive?

Re: AP cage arrived

I ordered a cage back on Dec 1, 2015. I called two weeks ago and they said they were behind schedule. Originally told me 8-10 weeks.

Re: AP cage arrived

Looks like you're at about the 9 week mark there REM. Hopefully they won't be much longer. I was lucky that I could get the quick ship T8s with sliding glass doors. The wait for the T10 and acrylic doors was 8-10 weeks. I can see where that would be frustrating. It'll be worth the wait though. The cages are really nice.

Re: AP cage arrived

Many of the more popular cage manufacturers struggle with meeting the scheduled delivery dates. Its certainly annoying, but it appears to be pretty common in that industry. On the bright side, AP cages are some of the best on the market. I've had some of my older AP units for over 13 years, and they're still as good as new.

Re: AP cage arrived

I also got something which wasn't typical it seems.
The T20 with glass doors has to come on a pallet.

Re: AP cage arrived

Kind of set it up a little. I'm not really happy with how it is right now but it is working well enough for the moment. I need to get some more wood that is tall enough to use the whole cage as a jungle gym. The wood I got is a lot smaller than what I was thinking it was going to be. But he can get closer to the heat now so it's working for right now. Hopefully he takes food again soon he has been off for a month or so now. The marks on the face in the one picture is the dirt from him trying to dig around.
