Alligator found in the Pasaic River....

Channel 7 news reporting breaking news today at 12:00 p.m. That a 4 foot alligator was seen swimming in the Pasaic River, originally reported by a fisherman who spotted the reptile from the bank. The reptile was captured by law enforcement and taken to a shelter. The report was that the reptile looked to be in good condition and was cared for by someone. They also think he was released by someone who could no longer care for the animal. Another step backwards for all Herp keepers and for USARK who tries to defend the hobby and the industry. Anther irresponsible keeper who makes us all look bad!

Well, alligators are illegal in N.Y. and N.J. So, probably some imbecile who didn't want to get caught with the alligator and released it into the river. Yeah, really sad in more ways than one.

Re: Alligator found in the Pasaic River....

Incredibly stupid and they clearly didn't give a crap about this animal. At least bring it to a shelter or rescue so you know it's in qualified hands. But no, let's just leave it to freeze over the winter. What, a boa wasn't scary/cool/exotic enough to show off to friends? What's gonna happen to the gator now? I'd take it in, (and keep it for 50yrs) but unlike this person I actually recognize that I live in an apartment in Brooklyn and it would be totally inappropriate, so......
