Most snakes just die if translocated to a new area. Best bet is to release it in the very closest habitat. Although kingsnakes can eat a venomous snake, I don't think releasing that guy, which will likely just die anyway, will have any effect on a population level. Essentially, if there is a source population near their home, snakes will continue to venture into their property. If they are really worried about a specific area, such as a play area, inexpensive fencing can be created in the same way that drift fences are done, easiest to do in soil without exposed rock though.

i'm prob on the other end of the spectrum here. if it's not endangered/threatened (and speckled are not)...you'll prob save it from getting eaten by a hawk or run over..enjoy the little guy.

never heard that snakes die if "translocated"...interested to read the source on that.
