V. Melinus
Forgot my old email to login with, but here we are at 3 years, and 3.5 ft later
About a year ago i made the mistake of using tongs that were a little too small and got tagged pretty well by the male. was obviously not wearing gloves either.
Every affair from feeding, to cage cleaning, is a violent one. Great animals though, but not at all tame or able to be handled anymore.

Got to be so careful, my argus touch my thumb with his nose a few weeks ago, so lucky!! he'd of took it off, so powerful. He dents your thumb with the metal eye on the tongs everytime he takes a rat off them.

Wow, sorry to hear and see this. Did you have to get a tetanus booster as well? We really have to remember that these are captive animals with wild instincts. It's easy to become too trusting of our charges. Did you order the longer tongs? Good luck.

Yep i was given the booster shot and an antiobiotic for 14 days. It's healed up nicely.

Ouch! Luck it didn't take a chunk out of ya. I've had a coupe of close calls, even with gloves on. Would love to see a better pic of your animal!

Gorgeous monitors. Bites happen to everyone once in a while. So far, my Mangrove has avoided going for my fingers, even during feeding time when they smell like food. I feel like once he's bigger, that's going to change.

Re: V. Melinus
Thanks man, monitors are my favorite animal. They just take up so much space.
