Hi, I don't know where to start
Hi there.... I have had a Cal King for the past 10 years or so. I got him when he was about 9 inches and now he is almost 5 feet. He eats frozen (thawed out) rats, sheds perfectly, is very people friendly. I've always had a friend that helped me with my snake, but he passed away and I don't know who else to ask these questions.
I've noticed the past few weeks his behavior has really changed. It looks like he is always out looking for food, but I don't think he's hungry. It seems more like he's looking for a girlfriend. I don't have a female snake for him, so is he going to eventually stop his search? Is there a way to find him a girlfriend? And does anybody know how I can sell him? Now that my friend is gone I feel like I'm in over my head.
Any and all information would be appreciated!

He will be fine. You can absolutely sell him if you want or rehome him. Unless you want to deal with an entirely new snake and a new enclosure and eggs than no, do not get him a girlfriend.

He'll most likely calm down. Many male snakes will change attitudes for a few months during breeding season, which for Cal Kings I believe is right now.

Don't sell your snake. You've had it for so long. You'll miss it if you sell it. And you never know what kind of home it will end up in. I suggest you keep it. This forum is fantastic, full of helpful, kind people, and they will answer all your questions. You do not have a difficult snake to take care of. We can help you do it right. Don't sell it. If you do sell it, sell it on a reptile forum so you know it is going to a knowledgable owner and not some punk kid. But don't sell it.

I agree with Mister S wholeheartedly.
However, it would be better for you to sell him to a knowledgeable owner than for you to have a snake that you don't want at all.
But as he said, if it's an issue of being unsure what to do with him then I know that there are a LOT of people on here willing and ready to help you!

Re: Hi, I don't know where to start
I'm sure Sun4Pam can find a knowledgable hobbyist on this site to adopt the snake, but my point is that if the only reason for re-homing is "feeling overwhelmed" due to the helper friend no longer being available, that is not a real problem since this forum has 100's of "helper friends" that can answer any questions. Also, it is not a complex-care requiring type of snake.
