Hognose question

I have the opportunity to get a hoggie from craigslist. It's 100$ and a green phase male. Suspected age is 2 years, but the owner says he's 47 grams and still eats mouse fuzzies. I know male hoggies stay small but does this sound right to you guys?

Re: Hognose question

I don't keep hoggies but 47g for a 2 yr old seems pretty small. I could be wrong so I'll defer to others with more knowledge and experience.

Re: Hognose question

Yeah, I know that males are smaller, just that to me, 47 grams for a 2 year old sounds...small. I may be wrong and I have been wanting to add a hognose to my collection but locally they got for about 200+. I'm not really sure about this one but at the same time I REALLY want it...I just don't want to make a rash decision and take on an unhealthy animal.

Anyone else have insight on this?

Re: Hognose question

It all depends on how much and often they feds it and how ell it eats. Just because it is small does not mean it is not healthy. You would have to see the snake to determine if it is healthy. I have a few snake that were rescues that are small for their age, but very healthy. A picture of the snake would help.
