Shedding? Please help.

My brazilian rainbow boa shed a couple weeks ago, "full shed" with no problems. Her humidity ranges from 80-90%. However, her eyes have still been in blue phase, and her color is still very dull. She s been this way for a week. I m just confused, is she going into shed again? I ve never known a snake to go into shed a week after its last. She is still a neonate. Roughly 6 months old. Help please, just kinda worried.

I m pretty experienced in reptile keeping, but this one really through a curve ball at me. lol

Re: Shedding? Please help.

A week does seem soon but snakes can hit some pretty crazy growth spurts when their young. I'd watch for any odd behavior before I'd be to worried.

The snake is 6 months old. How many sheds has the snake had for you? Any major changes since last shed?

I too was going to mention the dreaded M word, but wanted to hear a little more first

Re: Shedding? Please help.

Thanks for the replies guys!! I checked on her today, and she seems to be still in heavy shed as far has her looks. I checked her for mites as well, didn't find anything remotely indicating them. I'll go with the whole growth spurt thing, and hope for the best. I'm going to give it another week, then I'll probably have to figure out something.

Re: Shedding? Please help.

It is normal that your snake eyes will turn in blue during the shedding. However, you should handle your snake with care because its vision is obscured by the membrane covering its eye. So, your snake will become defensive during shedding.

Yes, I know this. I was just concerned because she had just got through shedding before she started to go into shed again. Thank you! : )

Re: Shedding? Please help.

Not that uncommon for there to only be a few weeks between shed cycles. My 14 ft retic who isn't growing as fast as she used to has shed every month for the past three months when I'm used to her going ever 2 or so.
