Growth rate question

Hey guys and gals

This might be an over analyzed question but this is my first snake. I brought my little guy home Dec 14 he weighed 266g, I didn't measure how long he was. I was told he was hatched summer 2014. He is now 430g and 24", he is fed a wean rat every week. Is this a normal growth rate?

Re: Growth rate question

Sounds about right. As mentioned on some other threads when feeding prey size should be approx 10-15% of the snaked body weight. but sounds like youre on the right track. Also good to hear your bp is taking to rats well thats sometimes a tough change getting them from mice to rats.

Re: Growth rate question

He was fed wean rats at the pet store so I didn't have to change. I'm happy the change in environment didn't stress him.

Re: Growth rate question

Great thanks, he seems to enjoy his new cage with a pro products rhp. He is more active at night, I've woken up to see him exploring in the middle of the night and early morning. Only been a few days so I'm hoping the extra space will be good for his activity levels and overall health.

Re: Growth rate question

Yes as others have said it's a fine growth rate. All snakes grow at different rates just like people do so don't worry about that too much.
