1st feed! (with pics)

It was a major success!

I'm sure you all knew that my new MBK wouldn't have an issue taking a meal, but as a 1st time snake owner and reading all these horrible situations where snakes go off food for weeks from shipping or cold weather had me mega worried about my little Calypso!

However, I ran out and got the pinkies today from petco and pulled one out to thaw.

So far she's been pretty timid and shy when I enter my room and darts into her hide. However, this time, with pinkie in hand, she darted OUT of her hide and headbutted the tank! (Kinda caught me off guard lol).

When I opened the tank though she darted back i to her hide. So, I removed the hide and dangled the pinkie and BAM! It was hers! Lol

She surprised me again by being so eager to feed! I fed her a second pinkie but stopped there. With the second one she was even MORE ready and almost got me instead of the pink, then went into a death roll when she had it lol. It was adorable!

Hide was put back in and she finished swollowing, looked around for 3rds, then went into her hide lol. (No 3rds were given).

These pics are from the 1st pink. =)

Congrats on the first feed Minkness. It's always a relief when they eat for the first time.

Congrats! I've never had a MBK but, I've always been interested. I guess I like the black snakes. Also, my favorite snakes when i was a kid was the black kingsnakes native to northern AL where I live. I kept quite a few of them, and they were awesome snakes.
