Smile Craigslist Conundrum

Hello all. Recently decided to re-take the plunge in herping after a while away. Starting completely from scratch I zero'd in on Boas. In my search I happened across an ad on Craigslist ( i know I know bleh) for a Central American Boa baby from 2014. I thought what the hell. The price was right and I had to start somewhere. So my family and I drove about 2 hours to meet the seller who seemed decent enough and I made the purchase.

I know your thinking who cares... Well he said he would let his breeder buddy know I was looking for baby Hogs as well. So about three hours later I get a random text from the guy who bred her. He goes on and on about her and something seemed off. I asked if we are talking about the right snake. So I linked the craigslist add and he got quiet. Next thing he says Wtf and starts going off.

Apparently the snake and details were a lie (in my favor, lol). Another breeder was listed as the the producer and the snake was not what was listed. Apparently the seller was supposed to hold this snake for pickup by the producer. However he decided to liquidate all the snakes he was holding this being the last for fast cash because he was bout to be homeless. I got a deal at $100. I was told it's worth much more and the guy was to never sell it in the first place. He wasn't mad at me but broke off all contact with the seller. Was one giant drama I found myself in the middle of. In the end I think I made out but you just never know. Here she is in all her tiny glory.

Re: Craigslist Conundrum

Pretty little boa, gratz on the sweet deal. Probably would be listed for a good bit more than $100, but I'm not into breeding them so to me it would just be a pet anyway.

Re: Craigslist Conundrum

Thanks. She is doing great. Ate last nigjt without issue. Nice and calm when handled. I am not super familar with boa breeding lines so I have no idea what she should have been sold for either.

Re: Craigslist Conundrum

Here is a better pic from earlier today. Moved her from her holding cage to her new home. Just quick cage I built from scraps. Good enough for now. The last pic is her future cage which is almost done. It can be two 4x2x2 cage with a breeding door or one wide open 8x2x2 cage. Just needs glass and tracks.

Re: Craigslist Conundrum

A hundred bones for that little beauty. Great deal! Not too great for the breeder, but it wasn't your fault anyway.
